Freestyle Martial Arts Academy
In addition, a strong emphasis is placed on the development of self-esteem. We believe that if a child's self-esteem is strong, he or she is more likely to become a happy, secure and productive adult.
This class offers not only an effective self-defense program, but a means for character development and discipline. Children learn to concentrate and focus their energy constructively, which results in better school work and grades.
Our goal is to inspire our students with dynamic Martial Arts spirit as we share with them the techniques of Self-defense in Taekwon Do. The Martial Arts spirit becomes a truly indomitable weapon in confronting the unwanted advances of an attacker, and in addition, the rigors of everyday life. For the child, it provides the focus and concentration to excel in school, and the courage to say "NO" to those who corrupt the principles learned at home.

At FMAA, our Youth Program is designed to create street safe, bully proof, strong, confident leaders. This is accomplished through an integrated system of curriculums that gives our young students the skills and tools to accomplish their goals and be more than they thought they could be.
Street Safe
This curriculum teaches simple, effective verbal and physical self-defense skills taught in a fun, informative and hands-on manner.
Our young members receive training and skills derived from the Freestyle Martial Arts Self Defense program. This unique program focuses on giving youth tools other than combat when dealing with a bully.
At each level of advancement, students are expected to perform basic physical fitness activities (sit-ups, pushups, etc...) in accordance with the Presidential Fitness Awards. As with all things, we start with small, realistic expectations for beginners. As the student advances in rank, so do the expectations and requirements. By the time the student reaches the higher ranks, they will be stronger and healthier than before, setting the foundation for a happier, healthier teen and adult!
Confidence comes from accomplishment of goals. At FMAA our members set and achieve goals on a regular basis. Every stripe and belt is a goal accomplishment, and every time a student advances to the next rank, they are required to set a new goal to accomplish or improve on by their next rank advancement.
Leaders
Students are provided the opportunity to develop their leadership skills by being chose to lead classes in activities. Students who show appropriate traits to become leaders can be invited to join the FMAA Leadership Team, where they are given more opportunities to become leaders in the school and the community.
Our Philosophy:
Every kid is a winner! Every kid is special! Every child wins with Taekwon Do for Kids. In karate, every kid can be a winner instead of a bench sitter, because karate allows children to reach for their own potential rather than directly competing against other kids.

What is Taekwon Do?
A Korean form of karate that has proven to be easy to learn and to enjoy for children of all ages and athletic abilities.
Taekwon Do promotes:
Self-confidence, which does not come naturally for many children, often has to be developed over a period
of time. As children accomplish new goals, their confidence level increases. Children become more self confident
in karate because they progress individually at their own pace and are not judged against others.
Self-defense can take many forms. Many parents worry about their children being safe on the street, yet on of
the real problems young adults face is their ability to defend themselves against other kids. Karate teaches kids
to think instead of panicking in potentially serious situations as well as how to react to threats from other kids.

A Parent's Questions.
How often should my children attend?
Initially, two or three times a week.
Does my child need anything other than a uniform to start?
No.
Is it a good idea for Parents to watch class?
Our experience has proven that children learn more readily and instructors teach more effectively without large crowds. The parent may watch, but it is not necessary. Although, during tournaments, and other special school activities, the public is encouraged to attend.
A Typical Parent's Concerns.
I don't know if my child will stick with a long term program.
I don't want to spend a great deal of money for something my child might lose interest in.
